Almost 200 brave the holiday heat
Big numbers at Oasis holiday program
Crossways Lutheran School recently played host to a school holiday program.
Each year Oasis Christian Church, in partnership with Crossways Lutheran School, the Korean Presbyterian Church of Adelaide and New Life Presbyterian Church of Sydney, conducts a free Kids and Youth Holiday Program at the school.
Over the years the program has grown and this year the 120 young people and 30 volunteers involved had the most amazing few days, filled with craft, stories, music, dance and plenty of fun activities. The activities included water slides, tug of war, basketball and the now annual event of pulling a school bus with a rope.
On Saturday evening the program concluded with a lively youth gospel concert, Holy Fire, conducted by the visitors from Adelaide and Sydney. Oasis Church’s goal is for the young people of Ceduna to know that they are important and to feel proud of the area where they live.
The church wants to stand with the local schools and other youth organisations, reinforcing that each young person in Ceduna has worth and that their potential is unlimited.
The support of the local community each year is fantastic, however for 23 young people from Sydney and Adelaide to travel and support the program at their own expense was amazing.
Some of them have come and helped at every event since the holiday program started. While the fun is over for this year, children can become involved in 12 months time. Details will become available in December.
