The Real Thing

When people learn you're a Christian, they want to know if you’re "for real."

Many people have tried religion or church, and had a bad experience with someone who wasn’t really reflecting Jesus in their attitude or actions. God is making His appeal to the world through us (see 2 Corinthians 5:20), which is why it’s so important for us to love people like Jesus does.

Do you know anyone who just lights up a room? Like that person, Christians who let the light of Jesus shine through their love for people can change the whole atmosphere around them. Unbelievers should feel something different (in a good way) about us—even if they don't understand why.

Wherever you go today, aim to be salt and light (see Matthew 5:16), so those around you will know that your relationship with Jesus is the real thing, and that His love is for them, too.

Prayer Starter: Father, thank You for equipping me to love people like Jesus today. Please help me reflect You well in everything I say and do, so the people in my path can eventually find You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste (its strength, its quality), how can its saltness be restored? . . . You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.

Matthew 5:13-14 (AMPC)
